Adriana Lafaille

She was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and grew up in Boston and New York. She has been part of the Brazilian Women’s Group for ten years and joined the Board in 2010. Adriana graduated from Harvard Law School and clerked on the Supreme Judicial Court and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. She is presently an Equal Justice Works fellow at the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, where she focuses on immigrants’ rights. Adriana lives in Somerville, is Married and has an eight year old daughter.

Ana Nogueira​

Mora nos EUA há mais de 12 anos. Em 2000, veio para a Universidade de
Maryland with a Ph.D. scholarship. During that time she visited Framingham, a large Brazilian community, and was invited to teach middle school Brazilian students in the bilingual program. She then returned to Brazil, finished her Ph.D., and started teaching History at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. In 2004 she came back to the U.S. to teach in Fall River public schools. She is currently a History teacher at Somerville Public Schools. She has three children and two grandchildren. Ana joined the BWG Board of Directors in December of 2012.

Ana Panori

She has lived in U.S for 18 years. Naturally from Goiania, Brazil where she went to PUC-Goias, for Architecture/Civil Engineering. Her entrepreneurial background made it easier to reinvent herself to be able to work and raise her girls as a priority in her life. She had a very successful small business for 14 years, giving her the skill of management and wearing multiple hats at different times to grow her business. As of 2014, she decided to pursue a different professional career. In December of that year she join the Prudential Financial team in Marlborough, MA, as a Financial Advisor. Since then she has been working closely with various organizations, and communities leaders to provide a much needed educational and financial wellness for minority communities. She joined the BWG Board of Directors in May of 2018. Ana lives in Spencer, MA, is married and has three daughters.

Fania Resendes

She graduated as a Social Worker (CLSACC) in 2006 at PUC-MG, Brazil. She has been a domestic and sexual abuse advocate at the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) for almost 5 years. In 2015 she was awarded The Dr. Joseph H. Brenner for her outstanding advocacy on behalf of survivors of violence by Community Legal Services and Counseling Center in Cambridge.

Maria Lourdes Silva​

She is a native of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, came from Rio de Janeiro, where she lived at the time, to the U. S. 28 years ago. She is a very active member of the community always willing to help. She has volunteered for several organizations, such as Respond, Jane Doe, MAPS, Best Buddies, and the Special Olympics. She also volunteers during elections to get the vote out. Lourdes lives in Newton, she has three children and one granddaughter. She is an independent consultant for Mary Kay. A longtime volunteer for the BWG, she joined the Board in December of 2012. Last year she acted as a volunteer for the AmeriCorps program and now is teaching citizenship classes Saturdays at BWG. Lourdes lives in Somerville.

Regina Bertholdo

Uma das co-fundadoras do GMB, veio para Boston há mais de 30 anos para estudar inglês. Regina trabalhou como intérprete no Hospital Somerville, coordenou uma Clínica Internacional Feminina no St. Elizabeth Medical Center,
and was a program coordinator for the Somerville Family Network. Currently, she is the director of the Somerville Parent Information Center. Regina was re-elected to the Board in 2005, and serves as President. She lives in Somerville, is a single mom.

Heloisa Maria Galvão nasceu em Ilha Grande, Rio de Janeiro, tem dois filhos e vive em Boston desde 1988. Ela é co-fundadora do GMB e diretora executiva. Já recebeu vários prêmios dentre eles a “Ordem do Rio Branco”, dada pelo Presidente da República a brasileiras que moram no exterior e são reconhecidas por seus serviços ao Brasil e aos braileiros imigrantes. Heloisa foi coordenadora de campo para as Escolas Públicas de Boston por 20 anos e ensinou português no Departamento de Línguas Românticas da Universidade de Harvard. Heloisa tem mestrados na área de jornalismo e televisão pela Universidade de Boston. Suas últimas publicações são “A Ditadura como eu lembro: Caminhando e Contando. Memória da ditadura brasileira”, Universidade Federal da Bahia, 2015, e “An Oral History of Brazilian Women Immigrants in the Boston Area”, em Passing Lines, Sexuality and immigration (Editado por Brad Epps, keja Valens e Bill Johnson Gonzalez, Harvard University, The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies, 2005.

Lidia Ferreira é natural do Rio de Janeiro. Ela se formou em Marketing e Publicidade na ETEC. Ela está estudando para obter seu diploma de Bacharel em Psicologia pela Liberty University e está escrevendo um livro sobre violência doméstica. Lidia é casada e mãe de três filhos. Ela trabalha no Grupo desde janeiro de 2014 como organizadora de direitos trabalhistas do GMB. Ela trabalha junto à organizadora das trabalhadoras domésticas Lydia Simas para organizar um conselho de trabalhadores e representa o GMB no IWCC e na campanha de salários justos. Lidia mora em Watertown.

Sara da Silva nasceu em Criciúma, Santa Catarina, e cresceu em Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ela faz parte do Grupo Mulher Brasileira, onde trabalha há nove anos como criadora e editora do site do Grupo. Ela é formada em Ciência da Computação pela UMass Amherst e atualmente mora em Seattle.
